And the winner isn’t even a logo.

Pretty cool, I like the winner. It’s so outside the box.

  • nucreativa Reply

I prefer HACI than the others

    Daniel,
What do you mean it’s not a logo?

  • Daniel Sturman Reply

    @Jacob Cass

It’s not a logo for an existing company.

Where is the art of thinking up a *pun* and then drawing it?

I think all these (well meaning) logo awards make up the numbers with really clever and well executed *puns*. There is no company called “Optimistic Beverges”, and in my experience if there was, they would pass up this smart logo for just the words in *Arial Black* in a second.

    Optimistic Beverages is sooo cool!

    Daniel,

I understand where you are coming from re the ‘pun’ logos, and I’ve talked about these ‘fake logos‘ before on this blog. Logo of the Day has a strict ‘No fictional logos’ rule for this reason, though we do allow unused proposals. As far as my knowledge goes, this particular logo was for a start up craft brewery which was later developed into Austin Beerworks.

    Hi Jacob,
I definitely love our work! and the way you share your “adventure”!
    Plus, excellent discussion here.
    Congrats and keep on moving!

Interesting. Great concepts, but any graphic that requires colour, transparency, and three-dimensionality to work effectively is not really a logo. That said, I love the “Optimistic Beverages” concept, its application would just be far too limited in any use case beyond the computer screen.

I love the Optimistic Beverages concept, but graphically is a little clip arty. The same idea could have been more graphically exciting.

I don’t see why this would be considered a fake logo at all. It symbolizes a very real project, the proposal for a brewery. Isn’t that what a logo is meant for?

Love the winning logos. Creative indeed.

    Very fantastic i like that

Great post Jacob, my personal favourite was the magic custom software logo.

Interesting debate with Daniel too. We all know design is about communication and problem solving, so if that’s true then it’s hard to praise fictional logos. As daniel says, it’s easy to come up with a pun then design a logo to match, the tough part of design is to come up with something really clever when the brand is boring and uninspiring.

i like the logo that is on 2nd position, six pixels of separation ,nice thought behind the logo design.

  • elavarasu Reply

In my point of view the logo “Six Pixels of Separation “is very nice and effective when compared to other things like optimistic beverages and HACI.

I dont think the winner of this is a very original idea at all.

I created a logo very similar to the winner of this contest over 5 years ago. Its been on my website for almost 4 years. Im not saying this to accuse theft, merely to suggest that the “glass half full” concept, has been there, done that, by myself included! here’s a link: http://vanpaul.com/logo_design/images/creativeoptimist.jpg
