The S23 Ultra, with its array of features, has significantly impacted my workflow and creative process. One of the most striking features of the S23 Ultra is its advanced stylus. Whether I’m sketching out architectural designs or creating detailed graphics, the stylus’s low latency and high-pressure sensitivity have allowed for a level of control and accuracy that’s hard to find in other devices.

The 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display is another aspect of the S23 Ultra that stands out. Its size and clarity provide a generous and vibrant workspace that makes every detail pop. When working on complex designs, the clarity and color reproduction of this display have proven invaluable. It’s like having a portable canvas that brings my designs to life with stunning visuals.

The processing power of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8, combined with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, means that the phone handles even the most demanding applications with ease. I’ve run programs like AutoCAD, Photoshop, and SketchUp on it, and the performance has been impressively smooth, without any lag or hiccups, which is crucial when you’re in the middle of a complex project.

The 200MP main camera is another feature that has transformed my work. The ability to capture high-resolution images with such clarity is notable, especially when I need to document architectural sites or gather visual references for my projects. The 10X zoom capability allows me to capture intricate details that are essential for my work.

However, it’s not all perfect. The premium price of the S23 Ultra is something to consider, especially if you’re on a tight budget. Also, its size and weight might not suit everyone. I’ve found it a bit challenging to carry around.

This foldable phone stood out to me for its unique combination of features tailored to artistic needs, such as Flex Mode, multi-view window, and S Pen support.

The most notable feature of the Z Fold 4 was its folding design. The expanded screen size provided by unfolding the device was a significant advantage. It offered a larger workspace, yet retained the portability of a standard smartphone. This blend of size and convenience was particularly useful when I was sketching or creating digital art on the go.

In terms of performance, the Z Fold 4 did not disappoint. Equipped with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, it handled art applications effortlessly. This smooth performance was crucial, as it allowed me to focus on my creative process without being interrupted by technical issues.

The S Pen Fold Edition, which I acquired separately, became an integral part of my experience. Its precision and natural feel, closely resembling pen-on-paper, made it an ideal tool for sketching and note-taking. This stylus truly enhanced the usability of the Z Fold 4 for artistic purposes.

Another feature that I found invaluable was the multi-view window capability. Being able to run multiple apps side by side streamlined my workflow significantly. I could reference images on one side of the screen while drawing on the other, making the creative process more efficient.

Battery life was another strong aspect of the Z Fold 4. The 4,400mAh battery enabled me to use the device extensively without frequent charging, which was particularly beneficial when I was outside, drawing inspiration from my surroundings.

The camera system also played a key role in my artistic process. With its high-quality lenses, I was able to capture detailed reference images for my artwork.

Reflecting on my time with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, I can say it was a highly positive experience. It effectively combined the functionalities of a smartphone with those of a creative tool. The addition of the S Pen particularly stood out, transforming the device into a powerful asset for any artist.

RAM: 8 GB | Storage: 128 GB | Screen Size: 6.9 Inches | Battery: Up to 11 hours

One of the most appealing aspects of the Moto G Stylus 5G is how it marries affordability with a suite of useful features, a combination that initially drew me to it. I frequently used the stylus for taking quick notes, sketching out ideas, and editing photos. The precision it offered was quite impressive, especially for a device at this price point.

The 6.6″ 120Hz screen was another aspect of the phone that enhanced my usage. Activities like reading, watching videos, or reviewing documents were made more enjoyable by the clear and fluid display. The Dolby Atmos sound feature added an unexpected layer of immersion to the audio experience, which was a pleasant surprise for a phone in this category.

Regarding photography, the 50MP camera system was largely effective, particularly in well-lit situations. The photos I took were generally sharp and vibrant, suitable for both my professional and personal needs. While the camera’s performance in low-light scenarios wasn’t outstanding, this was a minor issue in the context of the phone’s overall value.

The stylus, while lacking some advanced functionalities compared to higher-end models, was sufficient for everyday tasks like note-taking and simple sketches. This limitation, though present, didn’t majorly affect my overall experience with the phone.

In reflection, this phone offers a balance of practical features and affordability, making it an excellent choice for those who want a versatile smartphone without spending a fortune.

LG Stylo 6
LG Stylo 6. Image Credits: Amazon

RAM: 64 GB | Storage: 256 GB | Screen Size: 6.8 Inches | Battery: Up to 20 hours

The LG Stylo 6 is a highly suitable device for content creators, especially for those who are in the early stages of their careers. What drew me to this device initially was its balance of features tailored for creative work, without the steep price tag often seen in similar smartphones.

The 6.8-inch FHD+ FullVision display was a highlight during my time with the Stylo 6. I frequently used the stylus pen for detailed sketching and design work. The precision and responsiveness of the stylus on such a large screen made tasks like drafting blueprints and creating graphic designs a much more manageable and enjoyable process.

Another aspect I appreciated was the camera system. The triple camera setup, including a rear camera, ultra-wide lens, and rear depth sensor, proved invaluable. It allowed me to capture high-quality images of my designs and projects.

Regarding performance, the Stylo 6’s 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable with a microSD card) felt less at first but adequately met my needs. I stored numerous project files, sketches, and reference images without ever worrying about running out of space.

Most notably, the LG Stylo 6 debunked the myth that a stylus-supported smartphone has to be expensive. It offered a range of creative-friendly features at a price that didn’t break the bank. While it wasn’t the most powerful smartphone on the market, it was the battery life that really stood out. The 4,000mAh battery consistently powered me through long days without the need for constant recharging.

In conclusion, the LG Stylo 6’s combination of a large, clear display, precise stylus, versatile camera capabilities, sufficient storage, and long battery life makes it an invaluable tool for emerging content creators.

PROS CONS
➕ Integrated pen stylus for precise creative work ➖ Underpowered processor isn’t suitable for supporting demanding application
➕ Flexible triple camera system for diverse photography ➖ Camera app is also a bit slow
➕ Long-lasting 4,000mAh battery for all-day productivity
➕ Expandable storage via microSD card support
➕ Easy on the budget

6. Microsoft Surface Duo — Best Smartphones with Stylus for Multitasking

Microsoft Surface Duo
Microsoft Surface Duo. Image Credits: Amazon

RAM: 6 GB | Storage: 128GB | Screen Size: 6.7 Inches | Battery: Up to 12+ hours

I found the Microsoft Surface Duo to be an exceptionally tailored device for creative professionals, particularly in the field of architecture, engineering, and graphic design.

The most striking aspect was its dual-screen design. The twin PixelSense Fusion displays, connected by a remarkably fluid 360° hinge, enabled a level of multitasking and productivity I hadn’t encountered before. I frequently used one screen for reference materials while sketching or designing on the other.

The Surface Duo’s performance was another area where it excelled. Powered by a 2.84 GHz Snapdragon processor and equipped with 6 GB of RAM, it handled all my resource-intensive applications with ease. The 256 GB of storage was more than sufficient for storing large files and complex projects.

Visual clarity was outstanding, thanks to the twin 5.6-inch displays with a resolution of 2700 x 1800 pixels. This made a noticeable difference in the quality and precision of my visual work. However, it’s worth noting that the device didn’t come with a stylus, which was a bit of a letdown initially.

After purchasing the Surface Slim Pen, though, I was able to fully utilize its capabilities for creative tasks. The stylus offered comfortable handling and precise input, which was vital for my design work.

The battery life was also impressive. It reliably lasted through long workdays, which was crucial during busy periods when I was constantly on the go. On the downside, the camera quality wasn’t on par with other high-end smartphones. As someone who occasionally relied on photography in my work, this was a  noticeable drawback.

In retrospect, despite some limitations, the Microsoft Surface Duo’s unique blend of dual-screen functionality, robust performance, and stylus compatibility made it an excellent choice for creative tasks. The need to purchase a separate stylus like the Surface Slim Pen was an additional expense, but it was justified by the enhanced productivity and creative freedom the device offered.

PROS CONS
➕ Unique dual-screen design for enhanced multitasking ➖ No stylus included; aftermarket purchase required
➕ Powerful performance with 2.84 GHz ➖ Camera setup not as advanced as other high-end smartphones

Best Smartphones with Stylus Buying Guide

If you’re still confused about which stylus-supported smartphone is the best fit for you, check out the buying guide below and make an informed decision.

📝 Pen-to-Paper Stylus Experience

Ensure the smartphone you choose comes with a high-quality stylus that offers excellent precision, pressure sensitivity, and responsiveness like the stylus of the Samsung S23 Ultra.

The stylus should allow you to take detailed notes, create intricate designs, and work seamlessly with various apps, such as Evernote, OneNote, Adobe Creative Suite, and Autodesk apps. A well-integrated stylus with built-in storage or attachment options is a bonus, as it ensures the stylus is always with you when you need it.

🖥️ Make Sure The Display Is High Quality

A high-resolution display with accurate color reproduction is crucial for professionals. I recommend a screen size of at least 5 inches for comfortable note-taking and sketching. However, you may prefer a larger screen (6 inches or more) for more detailed work or multitasking like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 or Microsoft Surface Duo. Look for smartphones with OLED or AMOLED displays, as they offer better color accuracy and contrast.

🚀 Don’t Forget To Prioritize Performance

To smoothly run resource-intensive applications like Adobe Creative Suite or Autodesk apps, your smartphone should have at least 3 GB of RAM and a decent processor. This will ensure you can multitask and run multiple apps simultaneously without experiencing lag or slowdowns.

💾 Go For At Least 64 GB Of Storage

A minimum of 64 GB of internal storage is recommended for storing large files, projects, and applications. However, having 128 GB or more like in the Samsung S22 Ultra or Samsung S23 Ultra can provide extra peace of mind, especially if your profession involves working with large media files. Expandable storage options, such as a microSD card slot, can also be helpful for additional storage flexibility.

🔋 Long Lasting Battery Life is Essential

Battery life is essential for professionals who need their smartphones to last throughout the day. Look for smartphones that offer at least 7 hours of battery life like the Moto G Stylus 5G. Fast charging technologies can also be beneficial, as they allow you to quickly recharge your device during breaks or in-between tasks.

📸 High-Quality Camera for Pictures and Recordings

A high-quality camera with optical image stabilization and high-resolution video recording capabilities can be great for capturing visuals or scanning documents for professional purposes. Look for smartphones with decent rear cameras like the Samsung S23 Ultra. Features like HDR and low-light performance for better image quality are a plus.

🛡️ Durability and Build Quality for a Lasting Performance

Choose a smartphone with a durable build that can withstand daily wear and tear. Look for devices with sturdy materials, such as metal or glass, and features like water and dust resistance to ensure your smartphone can handle the demands of your profession.

🔗 Connectivity Options to Connect Peripherals

Your smartphone should offer a range of connectivity options, including an Audio jack, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB-C, for seamless connections with peripherals and other devices. This is particularly important for professionals who need to transfer files, connect to external displays, or sync with accessories like keyboards and drawing tablets.

💰 Price and Value

Finally, consider your budget and the value you will get. While it may be tempting to opt for the cheapest option, investing in a device with the right balance of features and performance tailored to your profession is crucial.

Look for smartphones that offer the best combination of stylus support, display quality, performance, storage, battery life, camera capabilities, build quality, and security features within your budget.
